Practice pieces are included free with every Heat Press Starter Kit. They give you a chance to test your heat press before you press your real shirts.
What you'll get
- 4 fabric swatches: Squares roughly 5" x 5" to press your practice transfers on. Swatches are generally 100% cotton or a poly/cotton blend. Fabric types and colors may vary.

- 1 transfer that you cut into smaller pieces for testing, or
- 4 small transfers
How to use them
- If you received a single transfer, cut it into pieces small enough to fit on your swatches.
- Set your press using our How to Press DTF Transfers guide.
- Press a practice transfer onto a swatch. Our transfers are hot peel.
- Check the result. If anything looks off, adjust your time, temperature or pressure and test again on the next swatch.
Why test first? Every heat press is different, even two of the same model. With 4 swatches, you can adjust your settings and try again until they're right, before you use your kit transfers and tees.
Test on the same fabric you'll be pressing
Different fabrics can press differently. Settings that work on a cotton swatch may not work the same on a poly blend, and 100% polyester is especially tricky. These swatches are a great way to learn how your press works. For your own projects, it's always a good idea to test on the same fabric you'll be using. When you try a new fabric, keep a few extra blanks on hand for testing.
